Eurowings Holidays opens for travel agencies
Eurowings tour operator brand with record bookings
New growth opportunities for stationary distribution

At Eurowings Holidays, demand for attractive package travel offers continues to grow: "Several hundred bookings a day. That has never happened before. No one masters the interplay between flights and tourism better than Eurowings," says a delighted Karlheinz Kögel, who has been operating the tour operator brand Eurowings Holidays with his HLX Group since December 2019. Travel agencies can now also benefit from the strong increase in demand for low-cost air travel packages, which were previously marketed exclusively via the company's own portal holidays.eurowings.com. The products of the tour operator brand can now be booked via Amadeus Leisure IT.
"Despite all the prophecies of doom, travel agencies will not lose their relevance in the future. Especially in the current situation, customers have a great need for advice and personal contact. To be able to fulfill these customer wishes and to position ourselves more broadly, we have decided to enter stationary distribution," says touristic manager Kögel, explaining his step.
Agreements for co-operation were already concluded with approximately 1,300 agencies - among them the offices of Lufthansa City Center inclusive the mobile travel consultation via travelista, co-operation with Best-Reisen and the mobile travel salesmen of Solamento. Other travel agency alliances have expressed interest. Chains and single offices, which would like to book the inexpensive quality package tours of Eurowings Holidays, can apply under reisebuero(at)holidays.ch for an agency. The entry commission is ten percent.
The current success attributes Eurowings Holidays not only to the generally rising demand, but also to the all-round carefree package, which offers customers a maximum of flexibility: they only pay a deposit of 50 euros when booking. Rebooking and cancellation costs up to 14 days before departure are already included here.
"Whether it's a beach vacation, a city break or a last-minute trip, demand for package tours continues to grow. Flexibility and security are increasingly important, especially in times of corona. That's why we, as Germany's largest vacation airline, have made our Eurowings Holidays offer much more flexible," says Michael Erfert, Head of Sales, Distribution & Digital at Eurowings.
The airline's tour operator brand links the management of Eurowings flights with low-cost hotel offers. In this way, very attractive packages are currently being created, especially for short-term travel requests to the Canary Islands, Greece, and Mallorca. "Eurowings has played a key role in ensuring that our sales machine is currently running at full speed. We are perfectly integrated as a tour operator. In addition, the airline is pushing our package offers via its own website, from which we are benefiting greatly," says Kögel, who is more than satisfied with the partnership.
In the meantime, Eurowings Holidays is also present on TV and on board for the first time: passengers can find vacation impressions of some destinations on their tables in the aircraft, and a Eurowings Holidays TV campaign is currently being broadcast on Sonnenklar TV. This gives passengers the opportunity to get in the mood for their vacation from home or en route.
