Carefree and flexible flying: Eurowings is taking responsibility in accordance with its customer promise "WeCare" for ensuring that its passengers along the travel chain reach their destination particularly safely, even in the fourth wave of the Covid pandemic.

100,000 free middle seats sold at Eurowings

Best-sellers in the pandemic: the free middle seat for more comfort or personal distance from fellow passengers, which can be booked as an addon to the flight for as little as 10 euros, was sold for the 100,000th time this week – a very special milestone: this corresponds to the number of seats on almost 600 fully occupied Airbus A320 aircraft. The most popular route for booking a free middle seat is the Eurowings flight from Düsseldorf to Palma de Mallorca; Eurowings passengers also particularly like to add the extra comfort and distance to their booking on routes from Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn to Palma.

Eurowings was the first German airline to introduce this service in summer 2020. Since then, free middle seats, which were previously only part of the BIZclass fare, can also be booked in aircraft rows further back – subject to availability. The offer is valid on all Eurowings routes within Europe.

Leading Lufthansa Group hygiene concept gives passengers peace of mind

The health and safety of its passengers and employees is Eurowings' top priority, regardless of whether there is a pandemic or not. Thanks to an industry-leading hygiene concept, which Lufthansa Group airlines introduced at the beginning of the pandemic and have continued to develop, safe flying remains possible. With a whole bundle of measures, Eurowings and Lufthansa ensure that the airplane remains the safest means of transport of all, even during a pandemic: special HEPA air filters make it possible to exchange the air on board completely within three minutes. The resulting excellent air quality, comparable to that of an operating room, combined with face masks, offers a high level of protection for air travelers. After almost two years of the Covid pandemic, there has not been a single verified infection on board. In addition to these measures, Eurowings customers receive disinfectant wipes from Sagrotan, Germany's number one hygiene expert, while boarding. Eurowings also increased the cleaning cycles in the aircraft cabin right at the start of the pandemic.

Covid protection always included: Eurowings has expanded travel insurance coverage

Covid insurance ensures flexibility and makes carefree travel possible in uncertain times: customers who choose a Eurowings travel insurance policy of their choice automatically benefit from included Covid travel protection. Together with its insurance partner HanseMerkur, the airline offers its customers two insurance packages that can be booked directly with the flight for as little as nine euros: a full travel insurance and a travel cancellation insurance; both products automatically include Covid insurance in more concrete terms, the service components take effect, for example, in the event of a failed temperature check at the departure airport or in the event of a suspected Covid infection. The Covid insurance offered by Eurowings also covers additional costs incurred in the event of a delayed return journey and protects against potential quarantine costs as a comprehensive worry-free package.

Flexible rebooking options for all Eurowings flights

Rebooking up to 40 minutes before departure? Very few airlines are that flexible. In addition to the Covid insurance, which offers maximum protection at the destination, Eurowings customers continue to benefit from flexible rebooking options as well as a general return flight guarantee: passengers can change their Eurowings flights free of charge up to shortly before departure, rebook as often as they like and change to another destination within Europe free of charge. Eurowings passengers who are already in their destination country are also guaranteed to be brought back to Germany in the event of a newly issued travel warning or a lockdown - by special flight if necessary.
