More than 220,000 passengers expected on first holiday weekend

In many German states, including Bavaria, Hessen and North Rhine-Westphalia, the Easter holidays begin this Friday. To ensure that your flight to your holiday destination is as relaxed as possible, the airports recommend that you arrive early. Just on the first holiday weekend, Eurowings flies more than 220,000 passengers on around 2,000 flights to over 120 different Easter holiday destinations. The top destination in Europe is Mallorca. Eurowings flies directly to Mallorca from 16 German airports. Within the long-haul network, New York, Miami and Cuba are among the most popular destinations.
In terms of staff, Eurowings has prepared itself well for the big wave of travel: Eurowings has strengthened its staff at all locations and provided sufficient resources for ground handling. Eurowings provides additional aircraft and crews as a reserve at airports with expected high travel volumes. At its largest and busiest airport Düsseldorf, Eurowings has brought forward check-in times by 30 minutes and increased capacity for late night check-in.
"This year more than ever: We are flying Germany into its Easter holiday – and are well prepared for the first big wave of travel this year", says Eurowings CCO Oliver Wagner. "The connections to Mallorca and the Canary Islands are in great demand and almost fully booked. In addition, price-attractive offers are still available for spontaneous last-minute travelers."
Extensive package of measures for more punctuality
Over the past five months, Eurowings has always been among the TOP-3 most punctual airlines in Europe. This is where the extensive package of measures for greater punctuality pays off which the airline has developed to get back on track. In this context Eurowings continuously takes a close look at all operational processes on the ground and in the air. The airline has significantly increased the number of reserve aircraft. The fact that aircraft can be planned more flexibly between take-off waves also contributes to stabilization. So-called "wave breakers" can flexibly integrated into turnarounds at short notice if other flights are delayed. In addition, Eurowings has extended flight and ground times in order to add more buffers to flight schedules and better absorb delays. As a further measure, the airline "encapsulates" domestic German flights from European turnarounds in order to be able to operate these independently of overcrowded airspaces in Southern Europe.
Save time with online services
If you want to save time and avoid stress at the airport, Eurowings recommends using the web or mobile check-in. Passengers can conveniently print their boarding pass at home or have it sent to them by SMS or e-mail using the mobile service. This service is available to passengers 72 hours before departure. The Eurowings App also informs passengers about any flight changes and alternative rebooking options. On well booked flights Eurowings passengers can check in their hand luggage free of charge at the check-in desk already. This ensures smooth boarding and punctual departure.
