New attractive Eurowings destinations from North Rhine-Westphalia

With the two major Eurowings airports in Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is Eurowings most important market. This is reflected in the large size of the airline’s route portfolio at these locations. In the recently launched summer flight schedule, a number of new summer routes inspire travelers to explore the most beautiful regions and places in Europe. 

From Düsseldorf, the summer months will now feature flights to Ohrid in North Macedonia. The route will be offered every Wednesday in July and August during the summer holidays in NRW. Ohrid captivates visitors with its picturesque old town, its many churches, monasteries and mosques, and its location on the shores of Lake Ohrid: millions of years old, the lake itself is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also in July and August, Eurowings’ connections from Düsseldorf will now also include flights to Tirana on Mondays and Fridays. The Albanian capital and its colorful old town are much admired by tourists.

Flair is also to be found in Genoa, the third new Eurowings destination from Düsseldorf. Flights to the seaside town in Italy are available every Saturday from April to October. Genoa is the focal point of the province of Liguria, best known for its cuisine – even by Italian standards, the food here is of exceptionally high quality and variety, characterized by excellent local products and ingredients. The grand boulevard Le Strade Nuove, featuring the Renaissance and Baroque buildings of the Palazzi dei Rolli in the heart of the old town, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006. 

Eurowings’ Cologne/Bonn location is growing by a total of four new connections in the current summer schedule. The flight program now offers weekly flights to Ankara every Monday between June and October. The Turkish capital is an important center of the country’s fine arts and is, next to Istanbul and Izmir, one of Turkey’s economic centers.

Between May and October, Eurowings will now also be offering flights from Cologne/Bonn to the airport of Kütahya-Zafer in Turkey every Friday. The regional airport is located between the cities of Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar and Uşak, in an area steeped in history: situated in the west of the Turkish Aegean, Kütahya is an ancient city that was home to the Phrygians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Seljuks, the Germiyan and the Ottomans. The new destinations from Cologne also include the Turkish city of Kayseri, capital of the Cappadocian province of the same name. Tickets can be booked for flights on Tuesdays between May and October. The area is excellent for hiking and insiders recommend a trip in a hot air balloon over the mountain scenery of Cappadocia.

In Italy, Trieste is rounding off the Eurowings route portfolio from Cologne/Bonn, with flights departing on Thursdays and Sundays. Trieste is the capital of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in north-eastern Italy. The harbor city lies in the narrow stretch of land between the Adriatic coast and the border with Slovenia, with Italian, Austro-Hungarian and Slovenian influences clearly visible throughout the city in areas like the medieval old town and the neoclassical Austrian Quarter.
