As part of the expansion, Eurowings is adding new destinations from Berlin Brandenburg Airport, including for the first time the Italian university city of Bologna. The new nonstop service to the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region complements the airline’s growing Italy portfolio – including destinations such as Rome, Naples and Olbia – and further strengthens Berlin’s direct connectivity to attractive European cities. In the leisure segment, Eurowings is significantly expanding its BER programme to the Canary Islands, with additional frequencies to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife. The new Bologna route (starting from 49.99 euros in the BASIC fare) as well as the additional Canary Islands flights can be booked from Thursday, 21 May, via eurowings.com. Further new connections and the final winter programme at BER are expected to be decided in July.

With the expansion, the Lufthansa Group is further strengthening its undisputed number one position in the German capital. In addition to Eurowings, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and SunExpress also operate regular flights to and from Berlin. Together, the airline group now accounts for around 30 percent of all flights to and from the capital airport.

Eurowings is responsible for the largest share of this growth: from initially three aircraft stationed at Berlin Brandenburg Airport after the pandemic to eleven in the future, serving almost 50 destinations. Over recent years, the airline – which specializes in affordable nonstop connections – has steadily strengthened its position at BER, including through the introduction of the “Capital Express”, new business and city routes, and numerous leisure-focused nonstop services.

At the same time, the industry urgently needs internationally competitive framework conditions to ensure that this network expansion can remain sustainably successful, warns Max Kownatzki: “Taxes and fees, which have more than doubled since 2019, are causing many airlines to increasingly avoid Germany. Combined with the rapid rise in fuel costs, they are acting as a stop sign for investment in Germany. In addition, there is a growing number of EU regulations that place a disproportionate burden on German and European airlines, particularly in the area of climate policy. This makes it all the more important for policymakers to act now and correct the significant competitive disadvantages affecting the domestic aviation industry.”

In addition to its expanded Berlin schedule, the value airline is also extending its Dubai service beyond the winter season at other bases. Until mid-May, Eurowings will continue to connect Stuttgart (six weekly flights), Cologne/Bonn (four weekly flights) and Hanover (three weekly flights) with one of the Gulf region’s most attractive destinations.

In the current 2025/26 winter schedule, the significantly expanded services to the Gulf region have proven to be by far the most popular and successful routes – including Abu Dhabi. With a total of 31 weekly connections to Dubai from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart and Hanover, Eurowings is offering more travel options than ever before.

New capital connection: Eurowings launches Berlin–Rome service

As part of its 2026 summer schedule, Eurowings is substantially expanding its presence at BER, with a particular focus on strengthening links to European capitals and major cities. For the first time, the value airline will connect Berlin with London (up to twelve weekly flights), Lisbon (up to three weekly flights) and Sarajevo (twice weekly). From 2 November, another European capital will join the network: Eurowings will launch a four-times-weekly service between Berlin and Rome, operating on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The offering is also becoming significantly more attractive for holidaymakers and families. The Mediterranean city of Olbia in Sardinia and Naples will each be served twice weekly in the future. During the peak season, the Greek city of Kavala will also be added to the route network with up to two weekly flights.

At the same time, Germany’s largest leisure airline is boosting frequencies on its most popular routes. Palma de Mallorca will see six additional weekly flights, Stockholm four more, while Zurich and Split will each gain two extra connections. Frequencies to Bilbao, Faro, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Larnaca will also be further increased, offering travellers even more flexibility and choice.

Palma de Mallorca remains the undisputed top destination in the route network: With up to 28 weekly flights, Eurowings is the leading airline on this route, carrying more than 150,000 passengers annually from BER to Europe’s most popular vacation island. Overall, the airline is offering Berlin’s leisure and business travellers over 2.3 million seats this year – around 700,000 more than three years ago.

Eurowings sets course for further growth in Berlin

Eurowings guests from Germany are not the only ones who can look forward to a wide range of offers. Travelers from the Czech Republic (Prague) will also benefit from new destinations in the summer of 2026, including Brindisi, Hurghada, and Ibiza. From Salzburg, Genua will additionally be served; from Graz, flights will in future operate twice weekly to Crete. Palma de Mallorca will see even more frequent connections from Berlin, Erfurt, Dresden, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Saarbrücken, and Stuttgart.

Up to twelve weekly connections to London Heathrow

As part of the expansion of services at BER, the Eurowings fleet will grow by two to nine aircraft stationed there – a clear commitment to growth in the capital by the Lufthansa subsidiary. With up to twelve weekly connections to London Heathrow Airport and up to three weekly flights to Portugal's capital Lisbon, the airline's European network in Berlin continues to grow.

More European choice in summer

Holidaymakers and families in particular can look forward to a significantly expanded range of routes from BER. Eurowings is adding several new holiday destinations to its flight schedule: there will be two flights a week to Olbia in Sardinia and up to two flights a week to Naples and Sarajevo. Kavala in Greece will also be served up to twice a week during the high season. Eurowings is also adding to its existing popular routes: Mallorca will receive six additional connections per week, Stockholm five, and Zurich and Split two each. In addition, Eurowings is increasing the frequency of flights to Bilbao, Faro, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Larnaca by one weekly connection each, significantly expanding the choice for summer travellers.

Direct flight from Stuttgart to Amman

In addition to Dubai and Jeddah, Eurowings will soon be connecting Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, with another destination in the Middle East: starting on 27 October, Eurowings will be flying to Amman in Jordan up to two times per week. Every Monday and Thursday at 6:15 a.m., a Eurowings Airbus will take off for the Jordanian capital. One-way tickets cost start at 99.99 euros in the Basic fare.

More connections for family and home visits 

In addition to the new leisure routes, Eurowings is also expanding its offering for travelers who want to visit family and friends in their home region. Starting on 4 November, Eurowings will fly from Nuremberg to Erbil in Iraq once a week (on Tuesdays), and the connection from Cologne/Bonn once a week on Wednesdays will now also be available in the winter flight schedule. Eurowings will also connect the Lebanese capital Beirut with Hanover (starting on 6 November), Salzburg (as of 28 October) and Prague (from 7 November) once a week in its winter schedule for the first time. Shopping for the latest winter fashion or perhaps a few summer bargains and then enjoying a Spritz on Lake Como or Lake Maggiore – both are possible if the destination is Milan (from Cologne/Bonn, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart in the flight portfolio; one-way from 34.99 euros in BASIC fare). Or would you prefer to follow in the footsteps of Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet and then cool off in Lake Garda – no problem when the plane flies to Verona (from Cologne/Bonn and Hamburg; one-way from 49.99 euros in BASIC fare). Coolcation in Cornwall: fresh air instead of heat build-up
Those who prefer mild summer temperatures with a fresh breeze should consider a coolcation in south-west England. The Swedish term lagom roughly means ‘not too much, not too little’. The relaxed Scandinavian attitude to life can be ideally experienced in Gothenburg and Stockholm itself. The Swedish capital – consisting of 14 islands – is surrounded by water and at the same time offers the amenities of a modern city (from Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart; one-way from 39.99 euros in BASIC fare). Here, too, you don't have to choose between a city trip and cooling off in the cool water, because you can do both. Sweden's second largest city – Gothenburg – may be on the mainland, but it is located on the west coast and combines an urban lifestyle with proximity to the beach (from Berlin and Dusseldorf; one-way from 49.99 euros in BASIC fare).

Germany's largest leisure airline will connect Berlin with Abu Dhabi with three non-stop flights per week beginning in November 2025. After Dubai and Jeddah, this will be the third long-distance route for the German capital within a short space of time. The Berlin service to the booming metropolis of Dubai will also be expanded: Eurowings will fly to Dubai up to eleven times a week (instead of the previous seven times a week). 

Eurowings is also providing a real winter highlight in Lower Saxony: With the inaugural flight on November 4, there will be three direct flights a week from Hanover to Dubai. Eurowings is thus creating the first ever non-stop connection to the Gulf region for the state capital. 

The third new destination will be reached from Baden-Württemberg: Eurowings will connect Stuttgart with Jeddah in Saudi Arabia twice a week going forward. The Dubai connection, which has already been successfully introduced at Stuttgart Airport, will be increased to six times a week (previously four times a week). Passengers from Cologne/Bonn will also benefit from an increase in the number of available flights to Dubai: beginning in November, there will be a choice of four instead of three departure days to Dubai at Eurowings' home airport.

The archipelago in the Atlantic owes its exotic name to its diverse volcanic landscapes and lush tropical vegetation. The return flight from the Azores to Düsseldorf is also on Saturdays (10:10 a.m.). With this, Eurowings is making direct flights from NRW to the Azores available again and, with this new route, is expanding the diverse holiday portfolio at its largest location with an unusual destination.

Further new additions to the Eurowings summer flight schedule 2025

Passengers travelling from Hanover can look forward to three new destinations this summer – two of which are only accessible directly with Eurowings: Lisbon and Erbil. The Portuguese capital will be served three times a week from 6 June, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The northern Iraqi city of Erbil will be served twice a week on Mondays and Fridays as of 31 March. And beginning on 3 May, there will be a weekly flight to Bastia (Corsica). The French island is always served on Saturday afternoons, with a flight time of just under two hours. There is a new destination in the summer flight schedule for travelers from Stuttgart that cannot currently be reached by direct flights: from 31 March, Eurowings will be flying to the Irish capital, Dublin, four times a week. The planes will take off on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

From the cathedral city directly to the north of Portugal: as of 1 May, Eurowings will be offering a thrice-weekly connection from Cologne to Porto. The flights will take place on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

All new connections will be available for booking as of 22 January 2025.

In addition to new destinations, Eurowings is also flying to popular holiday destinations more frequently on many routes. Mallorca remains the top destination in the BER program: Eurowings will be offering up to 21 flights a week from BER to Germany's most popular vacation island.

The airline, the airport and visitBerlin are working together to increase international flight connections to the German capital - with success, as the significant growth next year shows.” While the European program is growing strongly, Eurowings will cut an average of one in ten flights to the domestic German destinations of Düsseldorf, Cologne and Stuttgart. This is due to the sharp rise in government charges and fees, which mean that flights within Germany are no longer economically viable. However, Eurowings continues to link Berlin and Brandenburg closely to the major conurbations in North Rhine-Westphalia and southern Germany with demand-driven frequencies. The airline flies up to seven times a day from BER to Stuttgart, up to six times to Cologne/Bonn and up to five times to Düsseldorf. 

Fans of the desert emirate of Dubai will be particularly pleased: following the successful launch of new routes last year, Eurowings is now doubling its frequencies to the metropolis on the Persian Gulf: from 27 October, there will be daily flights from Berlin to Dubai and up to four weekly flights from Stuttgart at peak times. Cologne-Bonn will be added as a third departure airport to Dubai for the first time in the winter of 2024/25. Eurowings will be flying from the Rhineland to the Gulf three times a week. The city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia is a new destination in the 2024/25 winter program – Eurowings will fly there three times a week from Berlin and Cologne-Bonn in the winter of 2024/25. The service will be supplemented by two weekly connections to Cairo, the capital of Egypt, which Eurowings will connect with Düsseldorf for the first time. In addition to the expansion of services to the south, Eurowings is also responding to the unbroken desire to travel to Northern Europe: passengers from Stuttgart and Hamburg will benefit from new connections to Finland and Norway.

Growth also at international Eurowings bases
Eurowings guests from Germany are not the only ones who can look forward to a wide range of offers. Passengers from the Czech Republic (Prague) will also benefit from additional flights to Alicante in winter 2024, even beyond the summer flight schedule. There will be more flights from Stockholm to Berlin and Prague. From Palma de Mallorca, there will be even more frequent direct connections to Germany and Austria (Cologne, Dortmund, Berlin, Stuttgart and Salzburg).

At a media event, Eurowings Chief Operating Officer (COO) Edi Wolfensberger, together with the airport's Managing Director Dr Michael Hupe and Dr Andrea Heilmaier, Economic and Scientific Officer of the City of Nuremberg, gave the symbolic launch of the new Eurowings base. Earlier, a Eurowings aircraft arriving from Rhodes had already been greeted with a water fountain by the Nuremberg Airport fire brigade after landing.

Additional growth at international Eurowings bases

Eurowings guests from Germany are not the only ones who can look forward to a wide range of offers. Passengers from the Czech Republic (Prague) will also benefit from the new destinations Nice, Tallinn and Valencia in summer 2024. From Stockholm, the cities of Salzburg and Beirut are also new additions to the program. There will also be direct connections from Palma de Mallorca to Erfurt in future.

At launch, the codeshare cooperation between the partner airlines includes flights to the Mediterranean metropolis of Tel Aviv, to the historic city of Valencia in Spain, to Split on Croatia's Dalmatian coast and to Nice on the Côte d'Azur. There are plans to gradually expand the range of routes.

Eurowings customers will thus benefit from a wider range of direct connections from the Czech capital. Eurowings connections from Prague will also continue to be offered under Smartwings flight numbers and marketed via smartwings.com and other channels. The first phase of the codeshare agreement between the two airlines already started in March 2022.

Passenger volume in Prague grows by more than 30 percent

Eurowings looks back on a travel-intensive first half of summer 2023 from its European base in Prague. In the first half of the year alone, the Lufthansa subsidiary recorded around 300,000 passengers to and from the Czech capital. This means that the value airline was able to increase its passenger volume in the Czech Republic by more than 30% year-on-year in the busy travel year of 2023.

Eurowings already connects the Czech capital with non-stop flights to up to 20 metropolises and vacation regions in Europe. A new addition as of 1 November will be up to three weekly flights to Agadir in Morocco on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. This makes Eurowings the first airline to offer scheduled flights from the Czech Republic to Morocco.

Eurowings has quickly established itself in the Czech market

"We look back on the successful start of our Prague base, which we have steadily developed within the last two years and will further expand," says Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof. Since opening its base in the Czech capital, the Lufthansa Group airline has significantly expanded its services in Central Europe and quickly established itself in the Czech market.

Eurowings now has three Airbus A320 aircraft stationed in Prague, including local crews. The flights are operated by Eurowings Europe, Eurowings' pan-European flight operation.

Eurowings continues to hire at Prague base

The strong comeback of the travel industry continues to keep Eurowings' human resources department in high gear: the Lufthansa Group airline is expected to approach the threshold of 5,000 employees for the first time by the end of the year and even exceed it next year. The company is also looking for pilots and flight attendants at its European bases, including Prague. The connections also include eight new routes flown by Volotea that will connect German airports such as Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart directly with French and Italian cities starting in late May and mid-October. As a result, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Florence and Verona will also be reached non-stop from Germany via Volotea going forward.

Up to four flights a week to the desert metropolis from the German capital's BER airport

Travelers from Berlin will be able to fly to Dubai non-stop on Wednesdays and Saturdays as of 1 November. From Stuttgart, the highly efficient Airbus A321neo will take off on Thursdays and Sundays beginning on 29 October. From the end of November onward, the travel options from BER will be doubled: Eurowings will start to bring the capital’s residents to the sunny paradise on Mondays and Fridays as well. The route can already be booked now. The connection to Dubai complements the expanded program of direct destinations that Eurowings has been offering from BER since the summer flight schedule.

Additional winter destinations in sunny places from Hanover and Nuremberg

Egypt and the Canary Islands are also attractive, sun-drenched destinations in winter. They can be reached with non-stop Eurowings flights from Hanover and Nuremberg as of November. In future, Gran Canaria and Hurghada will be served up to three times a week from both airports – passengers taking off in the capital of Lower Saxony will also reach Tenerife twice a week with the Lufthansa subsidiary and for Franconians, Fuerteventura will also be on the flight schedule.

Eurowings is further expanding its 2023 summer flight schedule and adding new routes from its bases in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. With the additional connections, Germany's largest vacation airline is responding to the strong demand for vacation travel. At the same time, Eurowings is increasing its “Family and Home Visits” offering, providing travellers with more direct connections to their home countries. A few weeks ago, Eurowings had already announced a significant program expansion at the Berlin and Graz bases for the 2023 summer flight schedule. In total, travellers can choose from more than 140 destinations in 37 countries with Eurowings. All new routes can be booked as of now – at www.eurowings.com and very quickly and conveniently via the Eurowings app.

New from Dusseldorf

Eurowings has launched the most extensive program of new routes at its largest base, Dusseldorf. From 29 May, Eurowings will be flying four times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays) from the North Rhine Westphalian state capital to the Norwegian capital Oslo. The Italian city of Verona will be served on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 13 May. From 22 June, Eurowings will be flying to Samsun, the largest city in the Black Sea region of Turkey, on Thursdays, and to Adana in the south of the country on Sundays from 25 June. From 27 May, Eurowings will be taking off for Malta every Tuesday and Saturday. The Tunisian coastal city of Monastir will be served by Eurowings from 5 April on Wednesdays from Dusseldorf. From 29 May, Eurowings passengers will be able to reach the Armenian capital Yerevan every Monday.

New from Hamburg

From 4 July, Eurowings will connect Hamburg with Tunis every Tuesday. From 5 July, Eurowings will be operating direct flights to Nador, Morocco, every Wednesday. The island of Malta will also be part of the Eurowings program from the Hanseatic city from 14 May and will be served every Sunday.

New from Stuttgart

Eurowings will be taking off from the capital of Baden-Württemberg to two new destinations in the future: Starting on 3 June, there will be flights to the Greek port city of Volos every Saturday. Also on 31 May, Eurowings will add the Tunisian city of Monastir to its program on Wednesdays.

New from Prague

In addition to the new routes from Germany, Eurowings is also expanding its pan-European offering. From 4 June, the value airline will be offering flights to the island of Zakynthos on the western coast of Greece every Sunday. In addition, Eurowings will be connecting the Czech capital with Geneva, Switzerland, up to five times a week from 26 March.

New from Salzburg

New routes also from Austria: From its Salzburg base, Eurowings will be flying to the Greek city of Thessaloniki every Saturday from 13 May.

As part of the largest network expansion of the year, Eurowings is particularly expanding its services to Northern Europe: From the end of March 2023, the Lufthansa Group airline will connect the German capital non-stop with Gothenburg, Helsinki and Copenhagen. Heading south, Eurowings will in future offer direct flights from Berlin to the new destinations Graz, Ibiza, Nice, Porto and Zakynthos. At the same time, the airline is significantly increasing its connections to existing destinations: for example, the most popular island among Germans - Mallorca - will be served up to three times a day in future, for a total of around 20 times a week. The portfolio also includes more direct flights to the Canary Islands, such as Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife.

"As Germany's largest holiday airline, we belong to the capital, because it is an absolute tourist magnet and one of the most exciting major cities in Europe. But we also bring a lot to the capital. Passengers from Berlin and Brandenburg can look forward to numerous new Eurowings destinations that are at the top of the wish list of German vacationers.

With an expansion of almost 130 per cent (measured in terms of the number of seats offered), Eurowings is also responding to the withdrawal of international competitors, who have significantly reduced their presence in the German market in the context of the pandemic. Accordingly, Eurowings is expanding its leading position in the German market, doubling its commitment in the capital and will have six aircraft based at BER in future instead of the previous three.

The Lufthansa Group airline is now the market leader at the airports in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart. Eurowings accordingly connects Berlin with high frequency with its bases in west and south Germany. The connections also include plans for eight new routes flown by Volotea, connecting German airports such as Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart directly with French and Italian cities. As a result, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Florence and Verona will also be reached with direct flights in the future. With this, the two airlines are significantly broadening their pan-European portfolio for customers.

Volotea is one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe: founded in 2011, the Barcelona-based company now flies to more than 100 destinations in 16 countries. In Germany, the airline has been operating the weekly Airbus-internal factory shuttle between the Hamburg and Toulouse locations since 2019. With the sales partnership, Volotea is also offering scheduled flights in Germany for the first time.

At the same time, Eurowings intends to open its distribution channels to Volotea with its focus on smaller and medium-sized destinations in France and Italy. With the planned mutual distribution agreement, both Eurowings passengers and Volotea customers would benefit from the visibility of more than 140 connections on the websites of both airlines. This way, Eurowings and Volotea would improve the offer to their passengers, providing access to a significantly wider range of travel options throughout Europe.

In the context of the planned connections, Volotea will open eight new routes to/from Germany, connecting Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart directly with its bases in Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes (all in France), Florence and Verona (both in Italy). Volotea has announced that tickets on the newly established routes will go on sale today on the Volotea website www.volotea.com. Once Volotea and Eurowings have reached a binding agreement on the sales cooperation, tickets will also be sold on the Eurowings website www.eurowings.com and on all usual distribution channels. This is intended for the end of April.

Eurowings connects Europe – program expansion in Graz, Prague and Stockholm

Eurowings passengers from Germany are not the only ones who can look forward to a wide variety of offers. Passengers from the Czech Republic, Sweden and Austria will also be able to choose from a wider selection in the summer of 2023. Twelve vacation and city destinations will be accessible from Graz in the new schedule. From Prague, the program will include 18 routes in the future – Geneva, Rhodes and Corfu are new destinations. In the future, Eurowings will also connect the Swedish capital with Rome and Stuttgart.

Eurowings CEO satisfied with first year

"Prague and Eurowings are a match. We dared to take the step to the Czech Republic in a still very uncertain situation, but it is becoming more and more clear that people all over Europe now want to travel again after the Corona restrictions," says Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings. "Our concept as a value airline is also working: Czechs like to fly cheaply, but they also value our additional services such as flexible rebooking up to 40 minutes before departure or our Priority Service."

Jaroslav Filip, Director of Aviation Business at Prague Airport, also welcomes the Lufthansa subsidiary's commitment. "In the summer, Eurowings brought many guests to popular destinations and also expanded the offer in the winter. After the first year, it is clear that this is a successful cooperation, which we will continue to expand in the future.

Outlook: New destinations in summer 2023 and New Year's Eve trends

Evaluations show that Czech customers preferred to fly to Spain with Eurowings in the summer. Alicante on the Costa Blanca, Barcelona and Europe's most popular sunny island Mallorca were particularly popular. The most popular metropolis in 2022: the Danish capital Copenhagen.

In summer 2023, both holiday and business travellers from Prague will be able to choose from an even wider range of Eurowings services. New in the programme are connections to Geneva, Rhodes and Corfu. More frequent connections will be offered to Copenhagen (eleven times a week), Stockholm (six times a week), Malaga (four times a week), Athens and Alicante (three times a week). The programme now comprises a total of 18 routes, which are served by three stationed aircraft. Prices start from 39.99 euros.

But many Czechs don't wait until summer for their next trip, they also take a plane on the occasion of New Year's Eve. The most popular destinations over the New Year are the metropolises of Barcelona, Rome and Stockholm.

In addition to the expansion towards the south, Eurowings is increasing its range of city connections to Germany: the Lufthansa subsidiary will connect Graz, the capital of Styria in Austria, with Berlin and Hamburg in the 2023 summer flight schedule. Together with the connections to Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, travellers from Graz will then be able to choose from up to 25 weekly flights to the German city destinations. Business travellers in particular will benefit from greater flexibility on their trip.

In the course of this expansion, Eurowings will also station an aircraft at Graz Airport, making Graz  the eleventh Eurowings base and part of the growth course of the leading value carrier. The Eurowings offerings for the summer can be booked from Monday, 19 December 2022. Flights in the BASIC fare are already available from € 39.99 for a one-way flight.

Holding Graz CEO Wolfgang Malik, as the owner's representative, points to many years of experience, according to which the strategic importance of a regional airport can be increased enormously if criteria such as "central location at the hub of international transport transversals", "competition from airline alliances with international hub feeder functions" or "airline base for direct service to destinations" are fulfilled. Malik: "Our airport in Graz, as the largest regional airport in the Alps-Adriatic region, fulfils these requirements excellently with the commitment of Eurowings to establish its 11th base in Graz.

Centrally located, the stationing of an efficient and modern Airbus in Graz not only strengthens the popular connections to southern Europe, but also brings northern Germany closer to Styria, which is particularly attractive for business and tourism. With this significant expansion of its program, the Lufthansa Group airline is also responding to the withdrawal of international competitors, who have pulled out of the German market in the wake of the pandemic. Months ago, Eurowings had already emphasized the importance of the capital, announcing its intention to strengthen its position in Berlin.

Kittilä captivates with the breathtaking beauty of Northern Lapland

Hunt the Northern Lights, go skiing, or get up close and personal with huskies: Kittilä is the perfect destination for anyone in the mood for crisp and cold winter adventures. The small town is located in the Finnish region of Lapland, about 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. More than 400 daily flights for the first time - Majorca and the Canary Islands top the list

During the Easter holidays, Eurowings will operate more than 400 flights daily for the first time in two years and expects more than 160,000 passengers on more than 1,300 departures on the first holiday weekend alone. Particularly in demand during the Easter holidays are warm-water destinations such as the Canary Islands, Crete or Palma de Mallorca, but also city breaks to London, Prague, Vienna and Rome. For weeks, Eurowings has been recording bookings at a consistently high level - a good seismograph for a promising travel season.

New attractive destinations: More than 140 destinations in the programme for the first time

Eurowings has greatly expanded its tourist programme and, as Germany's No. 1 holiday airline, has by far the largest offering with more than 140 destinations. These include many new connections such as Hamburg-Chania or Larnaca-Salzburg. The top destination continues to be Palma de Mallorca - from April to October 2022, Eurowings will fly around 3.4 million passengers from 24 airports to Mallorca and back, thus offering more programme than ever before. From 3 May, passengers will also be travelling non-stop from Memmingen to the popular holiday island for the first time.

For the start of the holiday season, Eurowings is launching numerous new routes in April - including holiday destinations as well as exciting metropolises.

New in April from Hamburg: For the first time, Eurowings will be flying from the Hanseatic city to Bilbao in Spain (since 4 April) and to Verona in Italy (from 15 April). Passengers will also be travelling by direct flight to the popular metropolis of Lisbon and to the holiday island of Crete (Chania) from 30 April.

From April again from Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf: In time for the Easter holidays, Eurowings will again be taking passengers non-stop from Cologne/Bonn to Edinburgh (from 08 April), to sunny Larnaca on Cyprus (from 09 April) and to the capital of Albania, Tirana (from 10 April).

From Düsseldorf, passengers will again travel by direct flight to the Balearic island of Menorca (from 10 April) and to Kosice in Slovakia (from 15 April). Also back in the programme is the French port city of Marseille (from 15 April).

Other new destinations in the Eurowings route network: For the first time, there are flights from Brussels to Pristina (since 01 April), from Nuremberg to Pristina (from 10 April) and from Salzburg to Larnaca (from 09 April). Direct flights from Stuttgart to Dubrovnik in Croatia (from 09 April) are also back on offer.

Passengers contribute to a smooth start to their holiday

Eurowings recommends its guests to use the wide range of online services for check-in and for checking the documents required by the travel regulations that continue to apply. With myHealthDocs, Eurowings integrates the recording of health data into the digital travel chain. Passengers can also use the Self Attestation function via web check-in in addition to the Eurowings app. Important note: The obligation to wear a mask still applies on board.

In order to speed up the process at the security checkpoints, the Federal Police ask passengers to reduce their hand luggage to a minimum and to observe the liquid regulations. Ideally, hand luggage should also be checked in. In addition to the travel documents, travellers should also have the necessary valid Corona proofs, such as vaccination or test certificates for the destination country, to hand at all times. The Eurowings Travel Advisor provides passengers with daily updates on all important changes to Eurowings destinations and all the latest important information on entry and the current status of entry regulations. These preparations ensure a smooth process at the controls, during boarding and lead to a punctual departure.

Early arrival at the airport recommended

Longer waiting times are to be expected at many checkpoints at the airports. Eurowings therefore recommends that departing passengers arrive at the airport in good time and plan a time buffer for their journey. There may also be longer waiting times at baggage reclaim on the return journey.

Extended check-in times and stress-free baggage check-in through evening-before check-in

Eurowings is extending its check-in times in order to streamline passenger handling. At Düsseldorf Airport, passengers can now check in and drop their baggage on site as early as three o'clock in the morning. Eurowings guests who have booked a flight from Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf or Cologne/Bonn can also check in their baggage the evening before between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and thus save time on the day of departure. The offer also helps to reduce physical contact at busy check-in counters, especially at peak times with many departures. To ensure a smooth process, Eurowings recommends that its passengers check in online free of charge the evening before they check in their baggage and thus save time before departure.

With its increased presence in "the Nordics," the popular German airline is not only creating better connections for Sweden, especially to sunny destinations in southern Europe. The move also brings hundreds of new jobs to the region (both direct and indirect), creating employment momentum for the Scandinavian aviation market.

Expansion of the flight schedule

Eurowings is responding to the rising demand by significantly increasing its frequencies on both leisure and business routes.

Business routes to be resumed by the end of March

In the context of the pandemic, Eurowings had to temporarily suspend some routes. With the increasing demand on business routes, numerous domestic and European connections will be resumed by the end of March.

From Hamburg, for example, there will be up to eleven flights a week to Amsterdam and up to nine flights a week to Nuremberg.

From Düsseldorf, Eurowings is flying more frequently to Italy again – to Bergamo and Bologna (up to six times a week in each case) – and also to Austria: five direct flights a week to Linz and three to Graz.

From Cologne/Bonn, for example, Eurowings will again take its passengers to Bologna up to four times a week and to Dresden up to eight times.

From Stuttgart, the routes to Bremen (up to five times a week) and Amsterdam (up to six flights a week) will be resumed.

For a successful return to business travel, Eurowings is offering its passengers a free middle seat on domestic German direct flights and on direct flights between Germany and Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Ireland, as well as between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. The promotion is valid for flights in the booking and travel period from 17 February to 7 April 2022. The possibility of securing a free middle seat for more comfort and personal space has become one of the most popular products at Eurowings during the pandemic.

Strong expansion of the tourism business – more than 140 destinations available for the first time

Anyone who wants to use the cold Christmas days to plan their holiday for 2022 can now choose from more than 140 attractive direct Eurowings connections.  With around 2,500 weekly flights, the Eurowings offer has already almost reached the level of the time before Corona. The clear front-runner is the Balearic island of Majorca, which was once again Europe's most popular sunshine island last year: Eurowings will fly to Majorca from more than 20 airports up to 380 times a week in the summer of 2022, thus further expanding its position as the number one in Balearic traffic. From Düsseldorf, Eurowings will offer the new destinations Bergamo, Funchal and Tromsø in the 2021/22 winter flight schedule also in the 2022 summer flight schedule. For the first time, Eurowings will also fly from Düsseldorf to the Greek port city of Volos in the Thessaly region. The Serbian capital Belgrade is a new addition to the schedule. In addition, the airline will once again fly to Kosice (Slovakia) and Mostar (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

From Cologne/Bonn, Germany's largest holiday airline is now also flying to the Canary Island of Tenerife and to Alicante in the summer. After the Corona break, the popular Turkish destinations Izmir and Kayseri are also back on the Eurowings flight schedule from Cologne/Bonn.

Flexible rebooking options for all Eurowings flights

Eurowings passengers continue to benefit from flexible rebooking conditions and a return flight guarantee: passengers can change their Eurowings flights free of charge up to 40 minutes before departure, rebook as often as they like and change to another destination within Europe free of charge.

From Düsseldorf to Tromsø in Norway

From Düsseldorf, Eurowings’ largest base, Eurowings will take off for Tromsø in Norway for the first time on 4 December. The city lies 344 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, at the latitude of northern Alaska. As a travel destination, the region is particularly attractive because of the northern lights. The Düsseldorf-Tromsø route will be offered every Saturday at prices from 47.99 euros, and also on Tuesdays as of 21 December. An Airbus A319 will be used on the route.

From Düsseldorf to Rovaniemi in Lapland

New Eurowings summer destinations from March 2022 

Right at the start of its new base, Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof announced today at an opening event at Prague Airport already further new summer destinations that the Lufthansa Group airline will fly to in its summer schedule starting in March 2022. "We are delighted that our new Prague service has already been so well received. Prague is a highly relevant location for Eurowings, so we will once again significantly expand our route network with eight new destinations in the next summer flight schedule. This will enable us to fly even more leisure and business travelers to attractive destinations throughout Europe from March," Bischof emphasized in Prague on Tuesday morning. “For a year and a half, most business travelers have hardly maintained any personal contact with customers, business partners or international operations. With a rising vaccination rate, the demand for flights has increased significantly. Tourist destinations are demand - above all Mallorca, Greece, the Canary Islands and Croatia.  Eurowings has reacted to this by successively expanding its flight programme - and has increased its offer in Stuttgart, the largest Eurowings location in southwest Germany, by another 40 per cent during the holidays.

Eurowings has launched the most extensive program of new routes at its largest location, Düsseldorf. From the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, the Georgian capital Tbilisi (from €109.99) will be accessible on Wednesdays and Sundays from the summer flight schedule. The connection will continue to be offered once a week during the winter flight schedule. The Russian cities of Yekaterinburg (from €139.99) and Krasnodar (from €139.99), which were also served in the summer, will also be served in the winter. Yekaterinburg on the Ural Mountains will be offered once a week on Saturdays and the economic center of Krasnodar in southern Russia will be served on Mondays and Fridays.

Starting August 31, Eurowings will offer flights from Düsseldorf to Zagreb (from €44.99) on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Greatest variety: Eurowings takes off from Düsseldorf to more than 70 destinations

With the rising vaccination rate, falling infection numbers and the lifting of travel restrictions, the demand for flights is increasing significantly. Tourist destinations are in demand - above all Mallorca, Greece, the Canary Islands and Croatia. Eurowings has reacted to this by successively expanding its flight programme and increasing the number of flights offered in Düsseldorf alone, the largest Eurowings station, by another 40 per cent during the holidays.

From Düsseldorf, Eurowings offers travellers the largest range of flights of all airlines during the summer holidays: more than 70 destinations in 20 countries are in the programme, from Cologne there are 60 destinations in 18 countries. On the first holiday weekend, Eurowings expects around 25,000 passengers in Düsseldorf and 13,000 in Cologne. 4,000 Eurowings flights will take place in Düsseldorf during the holiday period, just under 2,000 flights in Cologne. Even though Eurowings is going to offer a large part of its original route portfolio again over the summer, the 2021 summer programme will only encompass around two-thirds of the capacity before Corona.

With the expansion of the summer offering, the active aircraft fleet is also growing: While Eurowings was operating only 45 aircraft in May, more than 70 Airbus aircraft will again take off for the Lufthansa subsidiary in July and August. In September, Eurowings plans to operate 80 aircraft. At the two major Eurowings locations in North Rhine-Westphalia alone, almost 40 aircraft will be stationed this summer: 26 aircraft in Düsseldorf, 13 in Cologne.

With Eurowings up to ten times daily from Düsseldorf to Mallorca
