TV premiere: Eurowings offers an exclusive look behind the scenes
Two-part documentary ‘Ready for Take-Off – Behind the Scenes at Eurowings’ airs on VOX at 8.15 p.m. on 4 and 11 November, with both episodes available earlier on RTL+
Millions of guests know Eurowings as an airline. Yet the many people who work every day to help them reach their destinations safely and comfortably often remain out of sight. The two-part TV documentary ‘Ready for Take-Off – Behind the Scenes at Eurowings’ introduces the people behind the Eurowings brand – and the passion that drives them. It takes viewers to places they would not normally see: straight into the working lives of those who organise flight operations and keep them running.
Over several weeks during the summer season, multiple camera crews followed employees at Germany’s largest leisure airline: on fully booked holiday flights to the Mediterranean, during night shifts in the maintenance hangar and in interviews at the heart of flight operations – the Operations Control Centre, which monitors around 600 Eurowings flights every day. The result is a collection of unique insights and authentic stories from the world of aviation, shown on German television in this form for the first time.
The two episodes will air on VOX at 8.15 p.m. on Wednesday, 4 November and Wednesday, 11 November. Both will be available on the RTL+ streaming platform from 28 October.
It all comes down to teamwork
Early shifts and radio calls, tomato juice and turbulence: ‘Ready for Take-Off’ reveals how much teamwork, experience and professionalism go into handling unexpected situations behind what appears to be an entirely routine flight. Packed with facts, entertaining and told with a light touch, VOX draws back the cabin curtain and introduces the people who help tens of thousands of Eurowings guests take off safely and comfortably every day.
The documentary also follows crews and their colleagues on the ground through situations where every moment matters. It shows how teams coordinate complex processes, make decisions when things do not go to plan and respond calmly and professionally, even under pressure.
All filming took place during live operations and without a script. The documentary features real employees, genuine working processes and personal stories. It offers a fascinating look at areas that usually remain hidden from guests: the interplay between the cockpit and cabin, highly complex aircraft engineering and the teams coordinating flight operations behind the scenes.
Max Kownatzki, CEO of Eurowings: ‘This documentary puts the spotlight on the people who make Eurowings what it is. Every day, our teams bring expertise, passion and heart to their work for our guests. They are the spirit of our airline. And they bring “People First” to life – by putting people at the centre of everything we do: our guests and the Eurowings colleagues who make every journey possible.’
