During one of the worst crises in the aviation industry, employees from all divisions of the leading holiday airline initiated improvement projects and helped to strengthen Eurowings operationally and further increase customer satisfaction. This has now been rewarded with the IFSS Business Excellence Award 2021 for the best lean programme in Europe.

Eurowings was able to prevail against renowned companies from all over Europe. "Eurowings' submission convinced us all along the line. Especially due to the broad involvement of the employees in the Lean programme, Eurowings was able to clearly set itself apart from the competitors in this category. Eurowings is on a first-class path on its Lean Business Excellence journey," said Robert Dannenmaier, laudator of the ifss, which presents the award.

"I am very pleased to receive this award because we have always stayed on the ball with our improvement projects, even during Corona," said Frank Bauer, CFO Eurowings. "At the same time, we take this as an incentive to continue to drive continuous improvements as part of our Excellence Programme and thus make Eurowings a little better every day."

The Eurowings Lean Programme is characterised by the fact that every employee, as an expert in their field, can achieve improvements for the benefit of customers with the help of the Lean methodology. Over 50 projects have been successfully implemented by employees since 2020. So far, more than 15,000 working hours have been saved.
