Lufthansa Group aid organization - help alliance - supports project at Düsseldorf schools with 121,200 euros

Summary
  • Special support for pupils at the Dieter-Forte-Gesamtschule, Realschule Benrath and the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Realschule

  • Managing Director of the help alliance hands over donation cheque to Chancenwerk e.V.

The aid organization of the Lufthansa Group, the help alliance, is strengthening its commitment to support education at three Düsseldorf schools: Today, Andrea Pernkopf, Managing Director of the help alliance, handed over a donation cheque for 121,200 euros to Murat Vural, Managing Director of Chancenwerk, at the Dieter-Forte-Gesamtschule in Düsseldorf-Eller.

"We want to help create perspectives for children and young people. The Düsseldorf learning project, which we have been supporting for several years now, makes an important contribution to this. We are pleased that the project supports both younger and older pupils to further develop their abilities to a greater extent than they would have been able to without this learning support," said Andrea Pernkopf.

In addition to Michael Biallas, the deputy headmaster of the Dieter-Forte-Gesamtschule, and representatives of the help alliance, pupils and tutors from the learning project took part in the meeting. They were able to report directly on their experiences.

help alliance was founded 20 years ago as a result of employee commitment and is involved in projects worldwide to enable children and young people to lead a self-determined life. Employees of the Lufthansa Group and Eurowings are personally involved in each of the approximately 40 aid projects worldwide.

The Düsseldorf Project "Destination: Educational Opportunities"

The " Destination: Educational Opportunities " project, implemented by the non-profit organization Chancenwerk e.V., benefits pupils whose families are unable to help them with learning for financial, time or language reasons. At the three Düsseldorf schools Dieter-Forte-Gesamtschule, Realschule Benrath and Freiherr-vom-Stein Realschule, pupils are supported by older pupils and students. Currently 66 pupils and six students take part in the project.

Marwa Mohamad, educational coordinator of Chancenwerk e.V. for Duisburg, Essen and Düsseldorf: "We are very happy that the donation enables us to continue the project successfully. In this way we can create a place for many children where they can ask their own individual questions regardless of the pressure to perform. Because at Chancenwerk there are no wrong or stupid questions. Everyone here can be himself or herself."

Imke Schepers, Lufthansa sales manager for North Rhine-Westphalia, and Gaby Drawe, who is in charge of sustainability communication at Eurowings, share the help alliance project management for the " Destination: Educational Opportunities " project. With the help alliance, each aid project is initiated and managed personally by employees who are the interface between the non-profit project and the help alliance. Every donated cent goes 100% to the help alliance project work.
