Which animals are allowed on board with Eurowings?
Eurowings allows dogs and cats to travel in the cabin. The prerequisite for this is that the animal has space in a transport bag and that this is stowed safely in the footwell of the seat in front. The total weight of the animal including the bag must not exceed 8 kg. A maximum of two animals per passenger can be carried in a transport box. The cost per pet starts at 60 euros. Certified assistance dogs naturally travel free of charge. Pets can be added either during the seat reservation process in the "Special baggage" section or by calling the call centre. For animal welfare reasons, all animals must be at least twelve weeks old at the start of the journey; for journeys to and from Germany, the minimum age is 15 weeks.
What requirements must animals fulfil for transport with Eurowings?
In order for an animal to travel in the cabin with Eurowings, a form must be completed before each journey and handed in at the check-in counter. This can be downloaded from www.eurowings.com. For transport in the aircraft, the animal must be carried in a box in which it can stand upright, turn round on itself, and lie down. The box must be waterproof, bite-proof and permanently sealed, but air-permeable. Hard-sided transport boxes are not accepted as a means of transport.
Exceptions to be noted
For safety reasons, Eurowings does not transport category 1 fighting dogs, such as pit bulls and Staffordshire bull terriers. Due to local entry regulations, Eurowings also does not offer animal transport on certain routes. This applies to flights to Great Britain, Ireland, and Dubai. However, it should be noted that assistance dogs are exempt from this rule on flights to Dubai. Separate entry and exit regulations for assistance dogs apply for flights to Great Britain and Ireland.
