L’Osteria and Eurowings serve up pasta delights high above the clouds

Beginning on 1 November 2025, maccheroncini colorati will be available at cruising altitude

Summary
  • Beginning in November 2025: Italian pasta feeling on board of Eurowings
  • Colorful L'Osteria pasta creation “maccheroncini colorati” will be served exclusively
  • Recipe adapted specifically for enjoyment at cruising altitude
  • Dish available for €8.90 in the Wings Bistro, including a coffee voucher
  • Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof: “For guests, vacation already begins on the plane.”

L’Osteria and Eurowings have joined forces to take the culinary travel experience to a new level – literally, because from 1 November 2025, Germany's largest holiday airline will be serving L’Osteria's classic “maccheroncini colorati” exclusively at an altitude of several thousand meters. To this end, the recipe for the popular pasta creation has been optimized for flight operations by experts from both brands – without compromising on taste or quality, of course. The maccheroncini come directly from L'Osteria's own pasta factory.

The cooperation between Eurowings and L'Osteria is a real “match made in heaven”: while L'Osteria provides its guests with a bit of holiday feeling in their everyday lives in its more than 200 restaurants in ten European countries, Eurowings flies around 20 million passengers to over 150 destinations every year. Cuisine also plays a central role in both the restaurant and travel industries. The collaboration between the two successful brands is therefore a logical step – together, they want to let the “dolce vita feeling” begin on board.

“For our passengers, vacation already begins on board – not just when they reach their destination. That's why we place great importance on providing a special travel experience, and good food is a key part of that. In L'Osteria, we have found a great partner who shares our passion for quality and enjoyment and literally has good taste,” says Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings.

Pasta creations bring la dolce vita on board
True to L'Osteria's corporate vision, “The Joy of Italy – everywhere for everyone,” guests can look forward not only to authentic Italian cuisine of the highest quality at a fair price, but also to a unique atmosphere – making a visit to the restaurant feel like a short vacation in bella Italia. In addition to its iconic 45 cm pizza, L'Osteria is also known for its delicious pasta. Since 2015, this has been produced in the company's own pasta factory, Pastificio No.12, in Nuremberg. Today, more than 20 types of pasta – up to 10 tonnes per day – are produced on machines from Italy. L'Osteria deliberately avoids the use of preservatives and pasteurization.

Using very cold air, without the use of nitrogen or CO2, the pasta is flash-frozen for
30 minutes at temperatures between minus 25 and minus 30 degrees Celsius and then packed manually for onward transport to over 200 restaurants across Europe – and now also for transport to Eurowings. Stefan Höllen, Vice President Supply Chain at FR L'Osteria SE, is also delighted with the collaboration: “We are very proud of our pasta and all the happier to now be able to offer it high above the clouds with Eurowings. Collaborations like this not only give us scope for creativity and further development of our portfolio, but are also a great opportunity to bring our brand and products to an even wider target group. We are excited to see how our maccheroncini colorati will be received by passengers and already wish all passengers Buon Appetito.”

The “maccheroncini colorati” stand out with a combination of fruity tomato sauce and crisp bell pepper, along with fried zucchini and eggplant, perfectly seasoned with mild onions and Italian herbs. The pasta creation will be available as of 1 November 2025 for at least six months, at a price of €8.90 in the Eurowings Wings Bistro. Passengers who purchase the pasta dish will also receive a coffee voucher that they can redeem in one of the L'Osteria restaurants.
